The first Volvo truck was built in 1928. Today, Volvo Trucks sell medium- to heavy-duty trucks through a global dealer network with 2,200 service points in around 130 countries. Volvo trucks are manufactured all over the world. In 2022, the production figure for Volvo-branded trucks worldwide was around 145,000. Since the acquisition of Renault Trucks and with it the American Mack brand in 2001, Volvo Trucks has become one of the world's largest commercial vehicle manufacturers, with about 11,500 employees, production facilities in 18 countries, a presence in 130 markets. Volvo Group is one of the most important manufacturers of trucks, buses, construction equipment, and marine and industrial engines. Today, electric mobility plays a central role at Volvo Trucks. The company's goal is to have half of its sales be electric vehicles by 2030 and 100 percent CO2 reduction by 2040.
