FTF

Wijchen near Nijmegen, Netherlands

Few vehicle manufacturers on the European continent have left their mark on the heavy transport sector like the Dutch "Floor Truck Factory" (FTF). In 1946, the company began converting decommissioned Mack troop carriers and building trailers. Twenty years later, FTF produced the first heavy-duty trucks of its own design. Over the next three decades, FTF produced a total of 668 heavy-duty trucks.  In 1995, it abandoned truck manufacturing due to competitive pressure. FTF continued to manufacture trailers and semi-trailers for eleven years until it was taken over by Nooteboom in 2006. In 2010, the company was sold again and operates under the umbrella of the Dutch Pacton Group.

The FTF Chronicle

The FTF brand originated with a transport company founded by the Floor family in Hilversum, the Netherlands, in the 1930s. After World War II, the Floors began converting surplus U.S. military trucks for civilian use and fitting them with custom trailers. In 1966, the company introduced the first heavy-duty truck of its own design. The chronicle of FTF's development was written by our freelancer, commercial vehicle journalist Niels Jansen. All important FTF models are included in words and pictures.
