The highlight of the UK commercial vehicle industry
RTX is the most important industry event in UK road transport. It took place from June 24 to 26, 2025 at the NAEC exhibition and trade center in Stoneleigh, Warwickshire. RTX 2025 is regarded as the key trade show for fleet operators, manufacturers and industry experts and is a must-attend event for anyone involved in commercial vehicles, trucks and fleet management. Our UK correspondent, Richard Stanier, took a look around RTX and photographed and commented on some of the most interesting vehicles for us.
RTX 2025 featured more than 300 exhibitors, including leading truck and body manufacturers, trailer and tire companies as well as suppliers of safety technology and workshop solutions. Numerous companies celebrated their RTX premiere. The focus was on innovations and new solutions, from the latest vehicle models and state-of-the-art trailer technology to smart workshop solutions. All industry giants such as DAF, Volvo, Scania, IVECO, Mercedes-Benz, MAN and Renault were also represented.
As part of the Knowledge Zone Conferences, practical expert presentations on topics such as fleet compliance, decarbonization, new truck technologies and law in the transport sector took place on all three days. Visitors had the opportunity to test the latest models themselves or experience innovative vehicles live as a passenger.
RTX is a top platform for networking, personal discussions and new business contacts - both in the halls and in the spacious outdoor area, where contacts can be made in a relaxed atmosphere. The trade fair is therefore perfect for trade visitors and decision-makers from the transport industry.
RTX is growing every year, with more exhibitors and increasing visitor numbers (2025: over 14,000 visitors), which underlines its relevance. Especially friendly: admission and parking are free for visitors.
Volvo is presently the market leader in tractor units in the UK. Operators have been impressed with the fuel economy of the new vehicles. This example is a 6x2 460hp model, with “pusher” axle, a popular configuration for 44 tonnes in Britain. Iveco launched this special edition S-Way 500 CNG-powered 6x2 tractor unit, named “Force of Nature.” It is the most powerful CNG truck on the market and is designed for the British maximum gross train weight of 44 tonnes. Power comes from the new xCursor 13 engine and the eight integrated biomethane tanks carry enough fuel for a 500km trip. The Volvo FM Low Entry meets the new 5 Star Direct Vision Standard imposed on trucks in London. This example is a battery-electric powered truck in “tridem” configuration for urban utility maintenance, although the low-entry Volvos are available with diesel or gas power. This is the latest version of the Dennis Eagle refuse collection chassis – The Elite+. The original Elite was launched in 1992 and the current version is powered by a Volvo diesel engine, although electric versions are available. This example features an Olympus compactor body, also built by the chassis manufacturer.Rightech is a new name on the British market, but if the design of the RT75 looks familiar it will be because the truck is a badge-engineered Chinese JAC. The truck is imported into Britain through Wright Bus, the Northern Ireland-based bus builder.Electric DAFs are a lot less common that those from Volvo – the European market leader in electric trucks – Renault, and Scania, but this new XD 270E made for an interesting exhibit at RTXRTX has a “Ride and Drive” event which gives operators an opportunity to try out the latest models. This is an electric MAN eTGX awaiting its next trip.Less familiar than the traditional YT203 half-cab design, the Terberg DT183 terminal tractor offers a low-height walk-in cab and enhanced visibility regarding pedestrians.Isuzu entered the British market in 1996 and are now the market leader in the 7.5 tonne sector. This is the N75.190 model.Europe’s most powerful on-road truck – The mighty Volvo FH16 780 with XXL cab. This special edition DAF XG+ is named the UK30, and there are 30 examples being produced to celebrate DF’s 30th consecutive year as the Uks best selling truck marque. British DAFs are built at the Leyland Trucks plant in Lancashire. The Yutong TE7 is another Chinese electric 7.5 tonne truck that made its debut at RTX. Yutong is a well-know builder of buses and the UK importation operation is run by Pelican Engineering, the former Gardner Diesel and Foden agents, who represent Yutong buses in Britain. This Scania 500P XT is powered by the latest 13-litre “Super” engine rated at 500hp, but the show also saw the first public showing of the new 5-cylinder, 11-litre Super engine which shares 85% of its components with its big sister. This is the Renault Custom Edition T High with Turbo Compound diesel engine. The Custom T is prepared in this paintwork directly from the factory. The Mercedes Actros L Pro Cabin has split opinions on its appearance, but this 2663 with Giga Space cab looks the part in the livery of Broughton Transport.
