The Scania Chronicle

Until 1968, the company, whose long history is traced in this chronicle, was called Scania-Vabis. The double name indicated the merger of two companies which, from 1911, continued together what they had started independently in 1902: the construction of commercial vehicles. Scania is therefore one of the pioneers in the construction of trucks and buses and has risen to become one of the world's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers in the more than 130 years since Vabis was founded in 1891. The following chronicle of the Swedish company is the result of a joint effort by our freelancer Christoph Büch from Berlin and Steve St.Schmidt, the operator of truckinfocus.com. All important Scania models are included in words and pictures.
