The history of the Turkish truck manufacturer BMC goes back over 60 years. The company, which bears the name of a long-defunct British automobile company, manufactures commercial and military vehicles and is one of Turkey's leading industrial companies. What began in 1964 with the construction of spare parts has developed into a manufacturing complex that has produced over 300,000 vehicles to date on 250,000 square meters with more than 3,500 employees. According to BMC, it exports to 80 countries.

The Turkish BMC Chronicle

The Turkish company BMC manufactures trucks, buses, special vehicles and military vehicles. It was founded in 1964 in Pınarbaşı, around eleven kilometers from the city of Izmir with its two million inhabitants, under the name "Birleşik Motorlu Araçlar". The Turkish company was originally a licensee of the British Motor Corporation. After the British parent company was taken over by Leyland in 1968, the name BMC was retained in Turkey. Since then, the company has developed into one of the leading commercial vehicle brands in Turkey. The chronicle of the Turkish commercial vehicle manufacturer was researched by Steve St. Schmidt from Berlin, using mainly information from the Internet as sources. All important truck models and some military vehicles are presented in words and pictures.
